I made an early spring trip to Middle Creek Wildlife Area to photograph the massive clouds of snow geese that are found there. I did not get any pictures of them, but I did get the closest shots that I've ever gotten of one of my favorite duck species: The ring neck duck. A good rule of thumb is to keep in mind that when plan A fails, it pays to be ready with plan B.
I found this killdeer alongside the road while cruising around Conneaut Marsh. As is often the case, I was blessed with a second or two of a wonderful subject posing for the camera in perfect light before flying or running off.
