2013 was a record breaking year for snowy owls in NW Pennsylvania. On a frigid day in December, I trekked out to Gull Point with photographer friends of mine and made this image. The purples and blues combine to make this image feel like a winter day: Cold!
This is a purple martin fledgling photographed in Erie County PA. He was standing on the ground - I'm not sure if he fell out of the nest - and clearly wanted fed.
The color version of this captive Barn Owl was too gawdy and crazy. A conversion to black and white did the trick. My favorite part of this image is the soft tones on the side of it's head.
