I parked in the public parking area in North Woodstock, walked past a couple of port-a-johns and stepped into a scene right off of a postcard. Sometimes when you're looking for magical spots, you don't need to hike miles into nowhere, just look for the public restrooms.
This is a purple martin fledgling photographed in Erie County PA. He was standing on the ground - I'm not sure if he fell out of the nest - and clearly wanted fed.
