I stood next to the trestle near Fabyan's Station in Bretton Woods as the Conway Scenic pulled in. Because there was a road intersection just off to my left, I knew what was coming, and the conductor of the train didn't disappoint me. A huge blast of the train's horn nearly gave me the heart attack that I thought that I was prepared to avoid.

This Great Horned Owl was injured and would never be able to return to the wild. I spent some time with him outside at a wildlife rehabilitation center in Ohio. He was very curious and would lean out and around the tree to get a better look at me.
